The Institution
The PSGR Krishnammal College for Women was established on 28th June 1963, by Sri.G.R.Govindarajulu and Smt.G.Chandrakanthi. It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Sri.Bakthavatchalam. It caters to the needs of women in higher education. The College is autonomous, ISO 9001:2008 certified and Re-accredited with A GRADE by NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Council).

To mould a future generation of empowered women through sound education adhering to the underlying principles of truth, and traditional values revitalized by scientific outlook and strengthened by moral and social responsibility.

The institution aims at the all-round development of the students, empowering them with entrepreneurial and decision making skills by providing an excellent academic environment, inculcating values of discipline, dignity, dedication and devotion to higher causes along with sportsmanship to make them better citizens.

To impart a learning process to young minds whereby they obtain knowledge and career-oriented skills, while imbibing the core values of love and service, in order to strengthen a legacy to leave behind.

Staff Achievements
PSGR Krishnammal College for Women has a teaching staff strength of about 95 in the aided college and 125 in the self-financing stream. In a world characterized by knowledge explosion, the staff keep updating their subject knowledge and teaching skills by regularly attending Orientation and Refresher Courses and also by participating in Seminars and Workshops.

The teaching faculty participate in Seminars, Symposium and Conferences and present about 100 papers annually. They have to their credit about 97 publications of articles in reputed journals and magazines. They have also authored 5 books in their respective areas of specialization.

Among the staff there are 25 Ph.D and 110 M.Phil degree holders. So far 9 Ph.D and about 267 M.Phil degrees have been awarded through the departments offering full-time and part-time Research Programmes. At present there are 15 Ph.D and 40 M.Phil scholars pursuing their research programmes. 20 Minor projects funded by the UGC and other agencies have been completed and another 6 are in progress. About 50% of the staff have been on the Board of Examinations and Studies and have been Question Paper Setters not only for Bharathiar University but also for other Universities. More than 25 of the staff have acted as Chief Superintendents and University Representatives of Bharathiar University. Several of the staff deliver guest lectures in other colleges and also act as resource persons at seminars and workshops. About 5 of them have given speeches over the All India Radio and a few of the senior staff have been on the Selection Committees of other Universities.
